This Brunswick Anniversary oversize eight-foot slate pool table from the 1950s was located in an upstairs Long Beach, CA apartment. The former owner of this table loved to play 8-ball on it, often practicing for hours by himself. His widow had a hard time seeing it go, I think that if it weren’t for the fact that it was going to a long-time family friend she wouldn’t have let it go. The pool table will now be enjoyed and cared for until his Grandson has a place of his own and can inherit this family treasure.
A 1950s Cliff May Rancho a few miles down the road will be the pool table’s new home for a while. Old commercial Brunswick tables were built like tanks, supporting the 675 lbs. of slate on top with minimal sag. It is amazing. These frames are some of the strongest I’ve ever seen. Even 50+ years later, leveling the slates was as easy as if they were only a year old. The old standard green cloth was still in good shape, so I was able to re-stretch it one more time so it can be played just as the previous owner intended.
Where can we find an 8′ Anniversary table for sale in SoCal?
Hello Barbie and thanks for reading my blog about the 1950’s Brunswick Anniversary pool table we moved for a client a couple of years ago. I currently don’t have any Brunswick antiques at the moment. If you scour the internet I’m sure you could find one that needs a new home. The only antique I currently have is a 5×10 foot Brunswick Centennial three cushion billiards table. Good luck and happy searching! Dave
Barbie, I have a Brunswick Anniversary model in great shape, along with a custom made Meucci cue and two other Meucci cues I’m considering parting with after owning it for 37 years. I’m in Santa Cruz. jory@cruzio.com
