Looks Can Be Deceiving; Is Your Table a One Piece Slate?

May 26, 2012

Here is a recent pool table moving experience I’ll not soon forget. Rossmoor, CA was the location of a Golden West pool table move we were contracted to perform. That’s a pretty routine thing for us, being Orange County’s #1 pool table mover. Under normal circumstances, I would have brought our company trailer for moves of this sort. But unfortunately, another team member had commissioned the trailer for a different move that day. When I arrived at the home to start the pool table disassemble, I took a closer look at the table and realized it was a one-piece slate. Uh oh, I thought to myself. Is this widowmaker gonna fit inside the van?

With a half-inch to spare, Anthony and I managed to muscle the 450-pound slate vertically into the van. Here are the particulars about this unique, 37-year-old Golden West pool table. It had original RC leather pockets that had outlived their 30-year life expectancy. The table also had the original cushion rubber that seemed to be on its way out. My client has decided to refelt their newly acquired treasure with Burgundy cloth and we’ll also be replacing the entire set of rubber cushions, along with a new set of black leather pockets with fringe.
